Independent Teesside was forged from a desire to celebrate all things independent throughout Teesside. The business has evolved into a movement that actively encourages Teessiders to support the independent businesses which are the heartbeat of our region. We were commissioned to undertake a full logo and branding redesign project for them.

We undertook lengthy design and conceptual processes to create a unique and memorable new logo for Independent Teesside. The project was a real test for our design team as our concepts tried to avoid the iconic but heavily overused Transporter Bridge. We also designed a range of new assets and logo variations that could really enhance and drive the brand further.
The previous logo , whilst having a strong visual, had connotations of the Northern Soul logo so we worked on creating a brand that had more meanings reflective of the local shopping scene with softer lines and a more playful fontstyle.
Our brand design process ensured we created a truly unique and original logo for a well know Teesside brand. Our rationale for the design was simple, using people, places, shopping and support allowed us to create a fresh new and memorable new brand for Independent Teesside.
We also designed and created a series of unique new icons for the business, this allowed the style of the new branding to be enhanced across a range of associated marketing and digital collateral. Additional graphics were also designed to be used in th emember retailer shop windows to help push the brand locally.
We wanted to create a new brand that had genuine mileage when it came to enhancing the look through promotional marketing material.
